Whilst clearing out my recently diseased granddads house I came across his old hi fi equipment. Can anyone help me out with regards to value, best place to try and sell etc.

The list of equipment is:

Akai Stereo Receiver AA-8080

Akai GXC-46D

Thorens TD-160

I’ve not has chance as yet to test these items, be I’m assuming there all in working order.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Not worth anything at all. Send them to me :shifty:
It depends whether you are an ebay / gumtree kind of person or you'd rather sell them to a dealer (and accept that you'd probably get a bit less for them). I have heard good things about Green Home Electronics.
It's a pity that there are few good dealers left (at all) that offer a part-exchange system.
If they are in good nick, I reckon you'll get fairly good money for them, particularly the TD-160.
You're not tempted to set them up for your own use then?

Just eBay them, the Receiver and tape deck aren't worth much even if they are working. The turntable should fetch good money though if in good working order.

Drummerman is the expert on Turntables he has a few and could give some guidance on the value of the Thorens.

There were a number of 160 models but let's assume it's the first, from around 1972-3. This has the slim silver arm with large headshell, two-tone top plate and chrome knobs. If it's in really good condition it's £150-300, in poor condition less than £100. Later ones vary in desirability but the most sought-after is the 160 Super which came without an arm.
