My experience of situations like this is that you think, "I wonder if i can get a uPnP server working..." and some time later you realise it is now 5am (and it's still not working!)

Oh it works now (and did at about 5.05) - immediately found articles on how later versions of Eyeconnect don't work with apple lossless. Found an earlier version, installed, bingo.

And it's genius...
