Oh dear oh dear oh dear®

Sadly not Spendor SA1s, though I did go into Sevenoaks in Kingston this morning to stroke them and turn volume knobs, only to hear someone discussing Pry-Mair and Sigh-rus CD players, and nearly saying something when the Primaaaaahray was dismissed as alright).

Just a small one this time. I hate having to do things in a rush, but was told last night that the kitchen was being rearranged and that I *had* to go and get a little flat telly today. Now if it had been a 32 incher I'd have been fine, but I haven't been paying attention to little ones, so I dashed off, WHFS&V in hand, and bought a four-star 20" Sharp something or other (that was at £449, I got it for £300 so I consider it five-star, for those who are counting

. It was either that or an LG that looked good but sounded like a wasp in a jam jar. So now I have to build the shelves it's going to sit on. Might just have a coffee and a hob *** first though......

Interesting. Sorry to be a predant, but I was just hoping you could give us a bit more specific information, as I believe it may be useful to others on the forum. Was it chocolate HobNobs? If so, was it plain or milk chocolate? Plain I should hope, but it would be good if you could confirm this.

Whilst I agree that the HobNob question is important to users of this forum I for one wish to know what type of coffee said HobNob will be used in conjunction with.

A word of warning. Do NOT take the hobnob apart as dangerous voltages may be present inside.Leave it to an authorised service centre.

McVities must be delighted with all these free adverts for HobNobs they keep getting. Or is JD the MD of McVities by any chance?? For what it's worth, I prefer a Foxes golden crunch cream myself!

Sadly, no, I have no financial interest, though am quite happy to accept free Milk Chocolate (naturally) Hob Nobs in recompense for the advertising. To answer some other posts though, I can confirm that the coffee is likely to be either Nescafes Cap Colombie instant or a Nespresso Lungo.

Sorry, I feel I should make it clear that my preference for plain chocolate HobNobs is purely my own opinion - others will have their own preference. Obviously, synergy is important and in different set-ups with different beverage combinations, maybe milk chocolate will be better. At the end of the day, always ask your shopkeeper for a sample biscuit before comitting. Ideally, if you can ask to take one home to try at home with YOUR drinks in YOUR kitchen. A small deposit is usually required and if the shopkeeper will not allow a home sample then shop elsewhere.

A question for John ..... have you tried the new Cadbury's oat and chocolate chip biscuits? They seem to be very much like the 5 star group test winning hob nobs. But not having any hob nobs for a direct comparison it's hard to say which is best.

The best option would be to find a retailer who will let you "test" out both products, although a home demo would be more benificial.

Please do not be tempted to try an Oreo. American filth. I still yearn for an Abbey Crunch.

We have a tradition in the WHF office of bringing biscuits back from whatever holiday/press trip we've been on - the odder the snack, the better.

I was rather disturbed to find these in Spain - especially in a double pack labelled 'Twins' (yes, really).

Am intrigued that we've got this far in the thread without comment on the fact that I just bought a Sharp television.

Anyway, got some of those Cadbury thingies. Expect a full review tomorrow.......

Thanks Benjamin (scores GSOH off).

Anyhoo, what disturbs me most is that anicecupofteaandasitdown have stolen my "Oh dear oh dear oh dear©" branding, which as you will see is now a registered trademark. The fact that this was written in 2003 is of course irrelevant and to be ignored in any peding legal action.

RE anicecupofteaandasitdown - I've got to admit I've read the book and it's highly recommended. There's a short section on kettle etiquette at the workplace which goes something along the lines of if you have filled and put the kettle on but then leave it, then you have forfeited all your rights to the hot water - I know this to be very true from bitter experience!

And there was me hoping for some info on the Sharp bought. I'm in the market for a small screen TV (really lacking guidance) and thought my trawl through the forums was perhaps coming to an end. Sadly not.

PS I've not found anything that dunks as satisfyingly as Rich Tea. Not the best biscuit, but the most satisfying "dunker" imho.
