Hi, My CRT TV is on the blink, having decided to buy a LCD I thought I'd better by a magazine (what hifi!) and look into it a bit more, which led me to this forum and I'm really pleased I did, All seems really friendly and helpful especially for those of us not quite up to speed with this sort of thing!!

From reading other posts I've learn't heaps and I was firmly in the PanasonicTH-42PX80B plasma camp. I went to a local supplier today to have a look at it in the flesh. All seemed fine and they had 1 for sale at £899 including delivery, set up and 5 year warranty the salesman was really helpful and new his stuff but standing beside it was the TH-50PX70 reduced to £1199 inc delivery set up etc. Realise I could get it cheaper on the web but if these local suppliers aren't used then all that will be left will be the clueless big chains.

Anyway my question is should I go for the older 50" or the new 42" what, if any, are the pro's and con's of going either way. Both would look equally good in my sitting room so really it comes down to the detail I guess.

Cheers

M

id never go for old over new, heard and seen good things from the PX80, id say its the better option to go for out of the two ;)

Panasonic dealers should be offering a free 5 year guarantee during May, so you should be able to get a reduction on the £899 price too. (£670 on the net)

But it's your money......
