I have Sony RDR-HXD995 DVD recorder connected to Pioneer KRL32V LCD TV with HDMI cable.

To get the synchronised sound I use TVs RCA Audio Out connected to the my hifi amplifier (I have not invested in AV amp yet).

This works perfectly with RDR-HXD995 when playing TV broadcasts, HDD recorded programs. However when I play DVDs the sound on TV Audio out is muted while transmitted ok to the tv speakers.

When RDR-HXD995 is connected directly to the HiFi amp with RCA Audio Out I get the sound on all media (DVD, CD, Divx, VCD, tuner)

When RDR-HXD995 is connected to the TV with HDMI and then the TV connected to HiFi amp with RCA Audio Out I do get the sound for some DVDs (e.g. British Film Institute releases, older DVDs, most foreign releases, home made DVDs), all CDs, Divx, VCds,

When RDR-HXD995 is connected to the TV with scart there is no issue with sound being muted on TVs RCA audio out.

Would I have the same issue if I use Sony DVD recorder with Sony TV or Pioneer DVD recorder with Pioneer TV?

Would the sound on TVs Digital Audio Out be muted in the same way?

Hi

I tried it and there is no difference.

I asked Sony and their comment was that the root cause may be HDCP.

Can you chack on your equipment ifyou get the same?

Thanks
