Our Nintendo Wii used to connect fine wirelessly to an Orange Livebox and then to our old O2 router. Now we moved to Virgin Media and although the Wii recognises the network SSID it won't accept the WPA key, always displaying "Error 51330" on screen. I tried the 2 WPA settings on the Wii (TKIP and AES, whatever these are) and also changing the channel on our router. To no avail. I would appreciate any feedback from Wii/Virgin users. Thanks.

Edit: Our router is the Netgear DG834G.

Hi Momo,

After a lot of faffing around with my routers ,I have discovered differences between a lot of Netgear routers. Is yours the 834G V2,V3 or V4 all of which have different "issues".

We have the the 834 GT which has no issues with online gaming etc but the moment I connect the Gv4 ,my son cannot connect to online gaming .I guess this is related.Try registering your issue on Netgear support. They are not the finest brains on response but they are relatively quick to get back to you.Especially as you have an error number to report.

Edit - sorry if you have already been here but- look here

Hi Davey,

Thanks for the tips. I'll check that later later today.

We are using the more recent 834Gv5, which is not even listed on the Nintendo's website. Maybe Netgear's own tech support people might have a better idea. I definitely want to try that Mac address filtering thingy before getting on to them.

It's all working great now! :-D

Simply adding the wii's mac address in the router s/w did it.
