Hi i think i may possibly be after new speaker cable to improve my system. I think im happy with my current set up but find this uncontrolable desire to constantly change things and assume the grass is always greener. My set up is as follows:

Arcam A39 amp

B&W CM8 S1

QED XT40 cable

Cambridge audio premium banana's (these may be a bit rubbish but are made well good)

Custom wall plates with binding posts (possible weak link in set up)

Arcam rBlink DAC- Atlas Element Integra interconnects

Arcam rLink DAC - Chord Crimson VEE3 interconnects

both DACS power supplied direct from A39

Music streamed from TIDAL in FLAC 1411 format

Now what would be natural progression from the XT40?, or should i be looking to change something else. Im fairly happy with the sound just think the low end could punch a tad harder.

Any opinions will be greatly appreciated.

How much money are you looking to spend?

What speakers did you try when you ended up with the CM8s?

Can you borrow cables from your dealer to experiment with (maybe TQ Black or something from Atlas)?

If you are happy with your system, maybe consider leaving it alone for a while.

Changing the cable won't make the low end punch any harder.

To get that you would need to change the speakers and/or amplifier or at least move your existing speakers into a different position.

Thanks for the replies. I think what is bothering me could possibly due to room acoustics for which I'm going to start another thread. I think the mid range and treble is being exaggerated leaving the bass behind slightly.

Thanks again

You could start by simply moving your speakers inch by inch towards the back wall, it can produce results without spending any money at all. Give it a go, you have nothing to lose.

Thgis could be the biggest upgrade, and don't forget to also try moving your listening position about.

Sounds like B&W speakers to me. I felt that whem I auditioned them, heard it also from other people, comments like slow bass. Cables won't make much difference, speakers will make the biggest difference to the sound. Room treatment can well help depending what the problem is.
