Hi

I'm hoping someone will be able to give me some advice regarding the sound setup I'm trying to get together. Please excuse any lack of understanding on what I'm doing 🙂

Here's what I've got:

Samsung 40" LE40R74BDX

Playstation 3

Sky HD

Nintendo Wii

Sony STR-DA1200ES

The STR-DA1200ES has been the impulse purchase, so I now need some speakers to complement what I have. I currently have no speakers at all, or a subwoofer. I think i'm looking for a 5.1 setup, and subwoofer if required.

The Mrs doesn't want the speakers to be too bulky, so perhaps a kit that are bookshelf with the potential for stand mounting would be a good idea (stands will definitely be required for the rear speakers).

My budget is probably in the £250 range. if i can survive on a system without a sub then fair enough, but I'd like something that could integrate one in the future if need be...

The room that this is based in is roughly 4 metres square, with the TV in a corner and seating on the walls opposite

Advices and recommendations please.

Thanks in advance...

It's that £250 that's the killer, so some discount-hunting is in order:

You can find the Tannoy FX5.1 package for £170, or the EFX 5.1 for about £30 more.

Or you can get KEF's KHT1005 for around £300, or Mordaunt-Short's Premiere package for about the same money.

And umm now I'm kind of running out of ideas...

Thanks for the advice.

I've plumped for the Mordaunt-Short Avant premiere package.

Once i've got it and it's all pieced together i'll hopefully be one happy bunny.

Cheers
