Hey all, im new here so I want to thank everyone in advance for your help.

I own a Sanyo 42in LCD that has now given up the ghost after 5 years of use. I work from home and use the TV (for work and personal) quite a lot so need to replace it with some urgency with a tv of approx the same size.

I mostly use the television for hi-def content, eg Blu Ray and Sky HD and for gaming, and I have a budget of approx £700 so its quite limited, Im tempted by a plasma, due to pretty good prices and quality of picture, but im fearful of image retention and screen burn.

Any advice on where to go from here, and any TV's in particular that may fit the bill?

thanks all

Assuming that your TV's demise is not a consequence of you inflicting damage etc, it's actually still under warranty for another year.

UK consumer law deems that if a TV fails within six years of purchase, then it's 'not fit for purpose', and, in turn, the retailer is liable for repair (parts and labour).

Strongly suggest that you contact Trading Standards/Consumer Direct (click here) for advice asap.
