Hi, over the last few months, I have decided to replace very old TV and also buy a new sound system.

I have been reading various blogs/forums etc. and have been asking around (Sevenoaks/Richer Sounds) about what the main decision criteria are.

My key drivers are to have a good quality 40"-42" screen and sound system that I can get good TV audio as well as being able to route my music through (I have most of my music on Ipod/itunes).

I have std sky dish, but have yet to buy Sky HD

This is what I am currently thinking of going for:-

1. New Panasonic TX-P42G10.

2. Denon AVR 1900

3. Kef KHT1005.2

4. Apple TV(To sync up my itunes and play through sound system).

As this is a big purchase for me, I'd really appreciate some view on this config, especially the idea of of using the Apple TV.

The Apple TV is a great device and works well.

Do you have a budget in mind?? How important is the music to you as I feel the speaker package will be the weak link here. It will be ok for movies but so so for music. Don't get me wrong, it will soind ok but you should be able to improve on it for not much extra outlay. depends on your budget.

Does it have to be a 'style' package??

Thanks for the response.

To be honest the music is not that important, baring in mind that I am only playing it currently through some small Altec IPOD speakers. So I'm sure what I'll get will be better and of course more easily accessible.

In terms of budget, I'm trying to keep the initial package down to the £2K mark, but I may build on this latter with an HD box and Blue Ray.

I'm not sure what a "Style' package means, maybe you could enlighten me. Any suggestions appreciated

Cheers

Hi,

If you're looking for a way to stream media from a PC or Mac then the PS3 works pretty well too. Not quite so slick as the Apple TV but it plays a wider range of audio / video formats and of course it's a decent DVD and Blu Ray player as well.

Well style speaker packages are usually designed to look good and usually be discreet. Better performance can usually be gotten at certain price points with more traditional speakers but I would not worry about this with the KEFs.

As music is not that much of a priority I would say the system will really impress you. Saying that, considering what you have been listening to your music on I think this side of things will impress as well
