Hello all,

let me clarify that I have no idea about AV speakers and any thing related.

I have decided that I need a new sound system. I was considering the
Bose - lifestyle 48, when on advise from net I have started looking at component based solutions. This
seems to be a time consuming(!) and complex process. I have had a
chance to listen to a few speakers/amp combo and they are way better
than Bose (in similar price). However the sheer complexity is scaring
me back into Bosses arms.

Bose lifestyle 48 offers a neat feature. You can save all your music
centrally and then access it at different locations. As many as 12
different zones can be set. Each zone can run its own music independent
of the other.

1. How do I replicate this?

I began my search with a budget equivalent to $10000.00. However I want to put together a system now in $5000! I have heard the B&W 865 theater set with the Onkyo 705 amp. Sounded good, but where I live (India) the cost is closer to $7000. Can some one suggest a setup equivalent in quality but at lower price?

(Prices in India tend to be 60-100% higher. A B&W 685 retails for $900, Onkyo 705 $2100)

I am being pushed by a friend to invest in the Onkyo 875 instead of the far more economical 705 on the grounds of some 'Reon' chipset. He says it offers better video up-conversion. Never seen an up converted video! How much difference it would make to guy who intends to watch regular DVDs over a projector with 720p(?) resolution.?? (and play wii)

Would appreciate any and all help.
