Hi Guys,

I'm new to this world of separate amps, cds and so on. Thus I'm looking for some advice.

I've been listening to music through my iPod and headphones for years as well as a little JVC MX-KA3 all in one stereo set. The JVC broke down recently so I started looking for something to replace it. I'm using my father's 30 years old Kenwood KA-50 amp with Wharfedale ETWENTY's in the mean time. Still I'de like to get something that would allow me to stream music or so with a new set of speakers and all of this for more or less 1000€.

This lead me to 3 different shops (not much of a choice around here in Belgium). Which means I spoke to 3 different salesmen and all of them with a different point of view of course...

The first one told me to get a Yamaha R-N500 with KEF Q300. ± 1000€

The second one told me to buy the new NAD D7050 with Dali Zensor 5. ± 1200€
He was totally against the Yamaha R-N500 as it was a Yamaha product which in his opinion is "rubbish" as Sony and Phillips because it's a mass product.
The first one was saying that the NAD D7050 was too weak of an amp and no good.

The last one told me to get an Onkyo TX-8050 with Dali Zensor 5 as well. ± 1100€

As I'm quite lost because of these 3 men I was wondering if you could help me out
Having riped all my CD's on my computer, I'de just like to play all my songs over USB, Airplay, Streaming trough my iPhone, iPod and computer.

I'm open to anything new as well :)

Thanks in advance :)

Cheers

As your music is all ripped to your computer and use airplay and the likes; have you considered an all in one system such as the Marantz MCR610?!

Its a great system with a very good amplifier stage and will drive a lot of speakers very well indeed! I've heard speakers up to £1700 UK Sterling with this system and it didn't struggle at all...

unsure if you can demo this system in Belgium but if you can it'll be worth your time I'm sure :)

With regards to the salesmen; stick to your decisions and not there's. Demo what you can and where you can and see what YOU like and what sounds best to YOU and thn, if you ca, demo the same equipment at home as this makes a difference!

The Marantz 610 would fit the bill nicely, and you can get some good speakers within your budget (Dali Zensor 3, Q Concepts 20's).

Hi Marcopolo

I don't know where in Belgium you live, but I live in Brugge, and there is a very good hi-fi store here.

They have the Marantz system for demo and a lot of other Marantz and Denon amps and systems.

Greetings, Niels
