I am a new student at uni and after 3 days of listening to music throught laptop speakers i have decided i need a real hi fi system. My budget is about 200 pounds, but i might be able to stretch that quite a bit further if necessary. Ive been looking at the Tannoy F1s, as i had a pair of F4s and i havent had many problems, the main problem though - is the room size. I will need a pair of speakers that wont be too bad up against a wall or in a corner, and an amp that goes well with them, as of now i dont need a tuner or cd player, if anyone can help it will be greatly appreciated.
Regards
Aleks

NAD C315BEE £199 (less in some places) and something like Wharfedale Diamond 9 for about £70 maybe.

You can plug your iPod/MP3 straight into the front panel on the NAD and your laptop can plug into a spare input on the back with an RCA phono --> 3.5mm jack lead.

Later you could save up for a DAC or iPod dock or speaker stands as and when funds and room allows.

Great little amp and can equal or beat 400£+ amps...

A review...

Try speakers like Dynaudio, Klipsch or Wharfedale on this unit and it should be a good match, and from my experience in comparing stuff in searching price/quality you can have very good hifi for little money.

Only downside, it has only one analog in for a source.

My setup is 10000£+ in my living room and is a bit better, muscular, authority and finesse by selecting and matching components, but in a not to big room, my bedroom, i use this little amp with sensitive speakers like the ones i mentioned and it's an immediate listening experience.

It beats my 10000£+ set up miles in price/quality.

Got mine from here...

You can always ask for it, got it cheaper there also and good service.

My wharfedale's where at least a better match on this then some very expensive stuff i tried them on.

But it's ok, i'm used to negative reactions with stuff people don't know, their loss i'd say.
