Hi,

I'm off to collect my Denon 2310 and Kef AV50 speaker pack this weekend and would appreciate some advice on some cables if anybody can help please

To cut a long story short I was running my trusty old Cambridge Audio Azur 540R V2 with a 40" Samsung LCD, my PS3 and Sky HD (no stand alone Blu Ray player at present)

I used a bog standard Sky HDMI from PS3 to the TV, mainly for gaming and the odd Blu ray disc. I also bought a £70 QED reference HDMI that was used from the Sky HD to TV (for a better Sky picture). For my sound from the receiver to the PS3 I just got a digital optical lead off ebay for about a tenner and its not a recognisable branded name or anything.

Hope your with me so far

I have just managed to get hold of another couple of HDMI's. I got a 1 metre "Van Den Hul" supposedly worth £55 and a flat 5 metre "Chord Lo Pro" allegedly worth £69.

Basically I was wondering which of these HDMI's you would use where in my new set up? Is it even worth bothering about where they should go?!

Also I have been eyeing up a QED Qunex digital optical lead to replace my cheap bog standard one. Is it worth the extra £35 or just uneccessary extra expenditure?

Finally speaker cabling. Assuming I will not be provided with a sub lead would it be worth spending around £50 on around a 5/6 metre length or again will a cheap standard one do? If there is going to be a noticeable difference I would rather spend the extra cash. I was looking at the QED 6m Qunex. As for speaker cable at the moment I have QED Silver Anniversay XT (think I got that right) for the 2 fronts and centre. These are unterminated and just hooked up to my current receiver. I'm using QED micro for the rears as I needed long lengths! Would it be worth bothering spending a fortune getting the airlocked plugs on new cable? What about biwiring speakers on an AV receiver or is this just for higher grade Hi-Fi equipment?

As you have probably guessed I'm quite out of touch with all of this so thanks to anybody who can point me in the right direction and hopefuly save me a few quid in the process

Use the most expencive HDMI in your collection for your ps3/blu ray as it will need the bandwidth as it is 1080p 24fps xv.colour etc. .

U can use one of the cheaper ones for your sky connection,

As it uses less bandwidth as your ps3.

As for your optical u have a good one no need for spending more money.

That will now save you the money Better now spent on your bluray collection.
