I have just purchased a 46 " 3D TV and 3D bluray player and would like to upgrade my system. The dillema i have is do i upgrade my Denon 1717 reciever or my Mission M-Cubes speaker system??

I find the Bass is very average and hard,no punch! at the moment on movies , dont really listen to music on it but do lots of gaming . Budget is probably about £1500 ish.

Can i just upgrade the subwoofer on the M-Cube system?

Thanks guys.

Chris Hollands,

Your M cubes are fine. That is a good sub - no change required, although I would try and place that sub somewhere in the middle of the room so the dispersion is even.

This is with particular reference to the M cubes, as I'm sure you have noticed that dialogue frequencies appear to be emitted from the sub too!

Your av receiver could certainly use an upgrade though. Even a £450 3D receiver like an Onkyo TX-SR608 would provide a leap in performance over your current amp. There are also others to consider, notably the Pioneer VSX-920 or Yamaha RX-V667. All three are great amps but have a distinctive flavour - it will depend on your listening preference.

I personally don't see any reason to spend more than £500.00 when you consider that the Denon AVR-2310 (non-3D though!) is also available at this price.

Quite a bit of money to be saved here over your budget!

Ronald

P/S : Please also ensure that your speakers and sub are calibrated properly to ensure that they are producing their best performance!
