Hi,

I want a new TV but which one? I want min. 50 inch and max. 60 inch plasma. I do not care about 3d, internet etc. Just want the best picture possible.

so far my list is:

-Panasonic Plasma G20 & V20 : 1400

-LG Inf. Plasma 950

any advice?

providing you sit at least 3 metres away then i think the 50v20 is a fantastic tv, but i would sort out an agreement with the seller before buying, that if you find any motion issues, as some have, you can get a full refund.

Max,
Is there any reason you didnt recommend the LG 350 that you own?

Stormpilot:Max,
Is there any reason you didnt recommend the LG 350 that you own?well, because imo the picture quality is not "the best possible" as the op asked for, its very good, i love it, but the very deep blacks on the v20 make for a better picture, a fantastic picture really..

the pk350 is no slouch either though, the x factor in hd last night looked brilliant, as did the snooker on bbc2, avatar on blu-ray looks beautiful too, id actually say the lg is better than my old g10, its an amazing tv for the money, but not "the best", but then its two and a half times cheaper than a v20, yet it sometimes displays a very v20 like picture, amazing really..

I'm in the same position too - looking for ideally a 60 but will settle on a 50 if everything seems better. I'll be sitting 3.5 meters away with it mounted on the wall. No need for 3D, much more interested in good quality 2D for HD films and freeview TV (so SD picture quality is still important). My budget could stretch to 2,500 but would prefere to spend 1,500. My choices seem to be the G20 if Pana (50") or the Samsung's if >50". What is it like to live with a big Samsung? Will i see too many artifacts on a 60 from only 3.5m's away? Anything I've missed?

I recently bought a Samsung PS58C6500. This is a great 58" plasma TV for very reasonable money, currently around £1,400. I'm very pleased with it.
