looks great value for money , samsungs top of the range plasma is due anytime , ps50b850 , one online review said it was as good as a kuro , a bold statement , last years top sammy plasma was £1700ish , i think it was called ps50a756 , a bit pricey , if the new one could be found for £1500ish and was even close to a kuro it might be worth waiting for ...

You can get it now I believe, from that place, I think I may get it, Kuro was good at it's time, now, other TV's are beating it!

actually i just found it on an irish website for 1780euros , seeing as we always get ripped off here in ireland i would assume £1500 would be realistic in the uk , i dont know how much credence to lend to the review i read , but they did say it was tested next to a kuro , and was its equal , ill defo wait for whfi and others reviews before getting carried away though , but , if it is as good as a kuro it will be my next tv when im upgrading my panasonic , im slightly sceptically hopeful that it will be THE DOGS

no no , im talking about the ps50b850 , not b560 , that may be good value , but the b650 is higher spec again for about £1200 , the b850 is samsungs top plasma , google it and have a look ...

Just found it, look here http://www.1staudiovisual.co.uk/catalog/samsung-ps50b850-inch-plasma-p-6880.html

I was comparing the two products, the only difference is that the 850 has more features, I wonder about picture quality?

I have to say I've seen a couple of Samsung plasmas and they have both been as poor as the proverbial church mouse compared to my Panny, so unless they've improved immeasurably in the last 2 years I'd steer well clear.

ajharris:what do u mean?sorry for the confusion , i was saying that if the samsung plasma range only differ on features , not picture quality , it would be unlikely the one i mentioned , ps50b850 would be as good as was said in the review of that tv i read online ... which said its picture quality was as good as a pioneer kuro ...

Well, I went to Costco and the b8000 was out of stock. I am going again, this weekend but will also see 850 TV in some other shops if available. Also I am going to see Kuro 500A (have looked 5090 so far) to see how far better it is from b8000. Thanks for your advice.

[Beano] Nothing like a bold statement with no evidence to back it up eh readers? [/Beano]

Seriously, have you got ANY justification for that statement?

Going back to the OP.... there will be a review of the Samsung PS50B650 in our next issue (with subscribers from 26th; in shops 1st July), as part of a Supertest of affordable 50in TVs.

We hope to get the new '8' series Samsungs any time, too. That will, of course, also get compared to our reference Kuro, as well as to its more affordable siblings/rivals..

i think im spending too much time looking at reviews lately , lol , anyway , i found some more information last night , apparently , the 500a is even better with sd and hd than the 5090 , although you are getting into quite high prices there , and probably talking about very small improvements , im wondering if the pursuit of perfection with hdtvs is worth the money ...

The entry level 4 series are not that fantastic not IMHO are the entry level Panasonics, but go further up the range and there are some cracking Samsung Plasmas. I have a PS-50P96FD and I chose it over the Panasonics that were out at the same time and I was upgrading from a Panasonic.
