I bought a project headbox II a month or so ago and have noticed a marked improvement on my good old Sennheiser 570's.

I connect the headbox directly to my Cyrus 6s CD player via the second output (using an old but good audioquest cable).

I am now seeking an upgrade on my phones and have a budget of up to £300.

I gather I'll get a considerable improvement on my current phones.

I have always been a big fan of Sennheisers (currently on my fourth pair).

Any suggestions and maybe a suggestion on a matching interconnect

i use the sennheiser hd650 and think they are great cans
i have also had grado 325i headphones also very good
these are used with musical fidelity x-can v3 headphone amp
so try these if you can they wont let you down if you ever upgrade again.

recently bought my wife some sennheiser HD280 pro cans. Heavy duty, noise blockers - for use with her silent piano. She's very happy with them, and her dad is a serious audiophile, so she's used to the very best.

With a budget of £300 I'd be looking at the 650's (with maybe a Blue Dragon or Cardas cable replacement), Grado SR 325 or AKG k701. You'll like the 650's given your experience, the k701 is more precise, detailed, spacious and taut and the Grado are for if agility and excitement are your thing.ÿBetter still you should be able to pick up the Denon D-5000 for not much more, which are superlative headphones.

See if you can try some of the above, they all have their own sound.

Senn HD595s are good enough for just over £100 (good search will find you a pair for this price) in my opinion..............
