I have a new th37px80 plasma tv, about 4 weeks old, watch about an hour a day on average (don't watch it every day but have watched up to 6 hours in a day a couple of times, so you know how long it's been on).

The picture quality seems fantastic.

But, I notice that when it is on there is an acrid electrical smell in the room. My wife says she doesn't notice it, but seeing as she is pregnant I don't like the idea that this TV could be letting off toxic smells/fumes of some sort.

Could this just be due to the fact that this is new electronics and will it go after a while? Or should I try and exchange it? Thanks for any help/experiences.

I had a similar problem for a while with my 37PX80 but it seems to have stopped now. Don't kmow what caused it but it was probably something to do with new parts getting hot for the first time. I had a new fan heater that smelled horrible the first few times it was operated.

It's probably nothing to worry about, my 42"pz85 had that "new electronics" smell for a while. But is fine now.

If your worried, or to be on the safe side get in touch with the store you bought it from and see what they say. They might send an engineer out to have a look. Better safe than sorry, but im sure you have nothing to worry about.

Its saying hello im new

Now if you see smoke thats somthing else.

If in doubt best to check with panasonic.

Thanks everyone. I suspect it is just the fact that it is so darn hot here in Madrid that doesn't help and that it is the 'new electronics' smell... but it has been a while, so despite the fact that my wife says I'm being obsessive and she can't smell a thing, I'll probably get someone to check it out. Better safe than sorry as they say!!
