Clare Newsome:One does have the edge - and you'll be able to find out which one in our Awards issue, out October 16th.....

Well, I've ordered the Sony for £300 delivered. I'm sure that if the Pana is better, it won't be by a mile and that's a decent price. It would be nice if the cheaper model was deemed better though.......

Clare Newsome:It's a great TV.....

I have asked this in many threads but still have not got a reply, do you know when you will be getting in/testing the bravia x4500? will it be in time for the awards edition?

No sign of the "X' Bravias yet,i'm afraid, so they won't make the Awards issue. But as soon as we get our hands on them we'll run tests and see how they compare for performance and value.

sorry to hijack this but does anyone know if a review of the sony ht is100 will ever appear in the mag?

the speakers are similar to the sony dav is10 which is a 5 star product, so should i expect the same performance?

also would losing out on true HD sound be that big a deal?

If Sony ever deign to give us one, then yes we'll review it. I've got sick of mentioning it to them, to be honest - will chase again Monday. I would buy one to test, but i've maxed our kit budget for the month on two other Sony products and a Samsung TV!

especially regarding their str dg820 and its minor flaws!

so please sony give the what hi fi team the ht is100 so i can be put out my misery!

if its not good i will plump for the dg820 honest! well once you update that singular flaw!

thanks for the responses clare.

its great that you can post on a forum and top people give you answers back!

After reading the Pana 55 review, even if the Sony is just a little off the pace, I'm happy. If it's the better machine, I will be ecstatic!!

Is any one else a little disappointed by the fact that the Panasonic appears to be something of an ugly duckling? I mean, look at the Denon 2500. Gorgeous. Even the cheaper Sony's look darned good. So why is Panasonic designing its best player to fit in well with the £30 argos tat? Or is it just me and you all love its looks? ;-)

Yes - as you'd expect for the price difference

Yes, if you're after the extra features and have a display that'll make the most of the improved performance

19leelong81:

Sony 55 or Pana 55????????????????????

That'll be revealed in our Awards issue, out Oct 16th.

I'm going to stick my neck out here; Sony is on form. It is hot at the moment. I would have thought the better machine's review would be held back for the Awards issue. I mean, the Pana's review is excellent but it looks all set up for the Awards issue to then say but there is even better out there!

I do wish we had time to think of such devious plotting - rather than just getting the reviews out in order of us having kit in, and having had as long with it as possible before posting the test results...
