What are the differences in the PM7003 and 8003.

Forums and web sites appear to give the same specs for each.

Around the back they look almost identical except the 8003's speaker terminals are more central and it has a slighly better SN of 90db.

Also is there a KI version to come?

Do you really think that matters in a budget player?
A cheap DVD transport is better than most midrange CD players transports. The final sound quality relies mostly on other factors.

Would you like a broom for that sweeping generalisation?

Yep, maybe a little sweeping, sorry. But I have often read that the DVD-ROM mechanism is far more robust.
Obviously this doesn't equate to better, musically, but it's interesting to see that the top player at my local hifi shop is a Class‚.

Maybe you can see the PM8003 as a KI version of the PM7003 ?

I've also heard the CD5003 and PM5003 are available in black and silver, but the PM7003/SA7003 and PM8003/SA8003 will only be available in silver.

I really like the looks of the new line. I LOVE Marantz CD players but have never been to fond of the amps. Hopefully this will change this time but they have to be really good before I sell my Rotel RA-04.

An update:

The 8003 pair (cd player and amp) are the replacements for the 7001KI CDP and amplifier. It sports the usual upgrades such as copper chassis, toroidal transformer, as an extra over the 7003, the 8003 cd player has a USB connection, for MP3, WMA and iPod.

One product that I didn't see mention in this post was the SR5023, which is the replacement for the SR4021 stereo receiver. It's also a 2 x 80 watt amplifier, it also sports a Subwoofer pre-out. Compared to the 4021, the 5023 is much sleeker, and only 10,4 centimeters high.

If anyone has anymore questions about the new products, fire away as I have the new catalog in hand.

drummerman:Marantz will always sound like marantz. Not a bad thing I admit.

I tend to disagree.
The 'Marantz sound' hasn't been that consistent the last decade.
