I'm relocating and now the HD 'war' seems to be over I'm taking the plunge and putting together a new AV system. Budget wise I'm thinking somewhere between 3 and 4k.

TV: Sony40W4000 (or 4500 if they're coming any time soon)
BD Player: Sony BDPS350 or Panasonic DMP-BD30
Amp: Going to audition the new Sony 2/3400, maybe something a little more powerful (Yam RX-V1800?) depending on the speaker situation...

The space is a bit of an odd shape. Suffice to say rear standmounts or floorstanders are not an option. At best I would have to go with something like a B&W MT-30 speaker set. But if I'm going to spend any money then I want an open and powerful sound, even if it means going for a stereo configuration and sacrificing surround. Musicality is also very important so my question is; Will the MT-30 system be up to the task or would I be better off just getting a pair of Monitor Audio RS1's? I admittedly haven't heard the MT-30's, but if they're anything like the KEF 3005.SE's I demoed last week then I'm probably going to have to go the stereo direction.

If I did go down the stereo direction I suppose I could always add more speakers further down the line if space became available...

Perhaps I've answered my own question here but any guidance appreciated!

If you have the space I would get front standmounts and look into getting maybe wall mounted or ceiling rears.

MA do in-ceiling and in-wall speakers, so do B&W and their range is very large. Have some myself and they are very good, CCM65.
