Hi All,

I'm upgrading my system and want some new floorstanders which are not too big, in terms of cabinet width/depth so I have been looking around and these are all possibilities, not listened to any but the Spendors, which blew me away. I know a couple of these are more than £1,500 but hoping my firendly local dealer, who stocks all of these will do me a deal, if I buy an AV amp off them as well, thinking about going for the new Denon 1911 and a new blue ray player, not sure what to do there but the new Sony, 470/570 with integrated multimedia look interesting. My main hifi system is Cyrus, 8XPD (wxyz or whatever) so they need to be a good fit for that and also for home cinema. My room is not massive about 4m x 5m and so I don't need massive power, but I am looking for lots of detail and the ability to handle home cinema.

Any suggestions, comments or welcome, looking to do the deed in the next month or so.

Thanks

Do you mean you're looking to use the AVR1911 as an add on processor to your hi-fi system? If so, this isn't possible, as the 1911 doesn't have any pre-outs other than the subwoofer.

Hi,

No I'll just piggy back two sets of speaker cables on, either use one set into one pair of terminals if they are bi-wireable or one set of banana plugs into the back of another set of banana plugs if not, two indipendant systems using the same speakers. Just like I do now.

Nothing wrong with that is there?

I stand corrected from earlier - the 1911 does have pre-outs for the front L&R - I was looking at the 1611 back panel

Hi,

I've been using the same set up, in terms of configuration for about 6 years now with my current system, just changed the amp last year, no issues so far, what issues do you think I could have? THe amps will never be on at the same time. What would you suggest? I have the Home Cinema kit under the TV and the hifi stuff on a seperate rack, so the amp and receiver are not close enough to link together other than via a 3M interconnect, I don't rally want to do this.

I use Wilson Benesch Square Square Ones as my hi-fi/home cinema fronts and they work well close to the walls. I think I need a sub for home-cinema use but they are fantastic for hi-fi and work well with Cyrus. IF you want a matching centre they do one of those too but it is expensive and wide.

I would use a pre-out (if possible) from your home cinema amp to your Cyrus as the 8vs2 has an AV bypass option so you don't have to adjust 2 volume controls for home-cinema and Cyrus amp will improve home-cinema sound.

They are not a brand I had really considered, I'll take a look, thanks
