just a bit of general info for anyone considering the new apple tv, it apparently resamples 44.1 to 48khz through the optical output.

not good if you're after bitperfect output.[🙁]

Not good at all, where did you find out the info can you post a link?

I have the old 160gb model and think this offers better versatility than the new model with it having the hd. Apple stores are selling the 160gb version for £150 in the stores if anyone is interested.

I would buy one in a heart beat if it offered MKV support.

But I dont think it even does DIVX, which is very poor

This is true, although using something like dashboard you can convert most formats to something the apple can use, you can also dowbload a patch that lets you hack the tv and play any format you desire....

What you mean I can play High def files of a stick no matter the file type or wether its Fat or NTFS?
