I have a couple of mono block amps spare I could use on my PC but need a USB DAC with a volume control built in, I was thinking a Headphone amp but am not overly familiar with what is available on the Market, I do not want to spend too much ideally under £100, if possible. Ideally I need to be able to set the volume and it should not change if the unit is shut down and re-started,
I have seen a FiiO but it has what appears to be push button volume, anyonk know if it remembers the volume if the battery goes flat? And Does the PC volume change the DAC output volume or is it reducing volume Pre DAC in the digital domain?
Whatever the solution it needs to be fairly simple to use as the kids and wife also use the PC they can use PC main volume if needed to turn it down.
