Hi all,

I want to have a nice sound system and have a quite spacious living room rectangular shape and around 4x9m.

I'm a beginner and have limited knowledge on these stuff but want to learn on the go. My main thing will be music but I also want to watch movies a lot. It doesn't matter for movies though, I just want better sound than normal TV output but for me music is important.

Main genres I listen are lounge, house, jazz and sometimes alternative/indie rock.

I listen mostly from my iphone or my Macbook connecting it to TV; not a frequent CD player... Don't mind if I had not one.

I was thinking of buying these and would love to hear oyur comments and further recommendations:

Onkyo A9010

Q Acoustics 3020 or Bose 301 Series V

Subwoofer - couldn't choose - need your help

For the cables: Van Damme or Nordost?

My budget is around 1500$ but can spend slightly more depending on the quality.

Thanks in advance for your replies!

Cheers

Buy better speakers with more bass instead of a subwoofer (when your budget is not that high under 1000£), easier to integrate and speakers might sound better then the Q acoustics 3020 also i think the bose doesn't sound as good as the q acoustics, i would personally never have choosen bose as an alternative to q acosustics 3020, i would have choosen boston acosustics a26, mabye some older wharfedales, monitor audio br2 or B&W 685 S2

Thanks a lot for your reply. I'll check your recommendations; I hope they're available where I live.

Is Onkyo a good choice? What would you choose as an alternative to it?

Not shure mabye Marantz PM5005,6005 or Nad D3020 mabye even an av amp since most can be used for bi amping if your speakers support that, the q acoustics 3020 doesn't but the 2020i does support bi amping/bi wiring, you can later buy a subwoofer and you have an active crossover for the front speakers (cleaner sound and more power before the speakers is reaching it's limited and more or less all have a mic so the amp can adjust the sound according to the room and distance to the speakers) something like this http://www.whathifi.com/yamaha/rx-v379/review (not shure if you can use it for bi amping)

Thanks a lot again... One more question, which models do you recommend from Wharfedale? I just called the local store and they told me that there are some Wharfedale models available (Diamond most probably)

Thanks for your support!
