I'm going to connect my iMac to Cambridge Audio AV receiver and for that I would need a good optical cable (value for the money).

iMac is having the headphone/optical digital audio output (minijack) and my AV receiver is having a optical toslink input.

The challenge is that the distance is 10 m. Chord Optichord optical interconnect would be perfect but I understood that the max length for these cables are 7 m.

As I see it you basically got two ways to solve this:

1) buy a long optical cable plus adapter to fit in the Imac minijack

2) buy an airport express plus short optical cable with mini toslink

If I was standing in your shoes I'd go for the airport express. (less clutter) Anyway, here are some options for toslink cables:

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the tips. I believe I will go with the wireless solution (airport express). Hope that the sound quality is good enough.

It is - I use one into my DACMagic and it's great (provided your wireless network behaves).
