Hi everyone, I am going to buy an Onkyo AV Receiver, and I´d like to choose a good speaker package, for both movies and music, but not so much expensive. I would sacrifice Style for Sound Quality. Performance is more important to me.

I have been thinking of: KEF 2005.3, or KEF T-105, or BOSE Acoustimass 10, or Harman Kardon Hkts-60.

Have anyone listened to any of these? can you share your thougts? any other suggestions besides this models?

thanks a lot!!!

I have the KEF 2005.2, and I don't think they can be beaten for price/performance. The Kef T series and Bose (in general) are built to sacrifice sound quality for style, so I'd say they are not for you.

Since you failed to specify both a budget and what "performance" means to you, I'm going to recommend Focal Dome and Monitor Audio Apex. Haven't heard the latter, but there are plenty of positive comments to be found on this forum.

Thank you Tremon!

My budget is around $800 us.

Performance just means sound quality to me.

I think tremon might have missed your price range slightly with his suggestions. I recommend if it is possible that you go and listen to a couple of set ups. If you cannot the KEF 2005's should suit you fine, also there is a Q Acoustics package for similar money.

Whoops. TBH I didn't know the price of the MA's -- and I could have guessed the budget from the OP's suggestions

Since you say US$, I'm also going to suggest Tannoy HTS or Arena. I've heard them with Onkyo before (although a stereo setup with DC4s) and that works great, their prices might be lower on your side of the pond.

From your original list, I would suggest the KEF T-105 they are excellent for the money and the design ensures no compromise in sound.
