Hi

I have posted a few months ago with a similar topic but my plan has refined a little...

I want to have my 500GB of lossless iTunes library moved onto a NAS.

I want to have the NAS in the office wired via ethernet to the main room with TV, DAC/AMP, and speakers.

I want to be able to access Apple Front Row on my TV screen for selecting music etc.

What do i need to do this?

Apple TV? Mac Mini?

Thanks

Jon

From what I have heard/read it will have to be a Mac Mini, or equivalent.

Then again, From an Apple "Genius" in store yesterday "I can't comment on what hackers are up to" indicating in a subtle way that there may be ways to achieve this with the Apple TV.

Hmmm

Well I'm not a hacker so I will leave them to their games!

Mac Mini could be the way i think, I would have internet access using my 40inch LCD as a monitor then?!

Nice

Apple TV may do it, but am yet to find that it can read a shared library exposed by a NAS - it certainly didn't used to be able to, but things may have moved on since I last looked. Hang on a mo...

Seems not. It works (as it always did) if you have a PC or Mac switched on to act as the server for the content (with the NAS acting only as storage), but that might not suit your requirement?

Alternatively, you could get a s/h Apple TV v1, which has the storage built in and is quite good value now...

I have it sorted!

Selling my iMac, buying a Mac Mini, connecting via usb to a UnitiQute and also Sky+HD to UnitiQute via optical and the Clearaudio turntable into the Analogue in.

And using the 40" Sony LCDTV as a monitor for the Mac mini via HDMI , I get Front Row and big size HD web browsing, iPlayer, LoveFilm, YouTube, Spotify et al.

Perfect set up for me!

No I dont have one yet.

Hopefully in March I will be back up to some sort of "in the black" banking. Then i will be looking

what would you recommend?

I would like to stay with Clearaudio, but i believe they are over £200?
