I am having to move my system which means the speakers will no longer be placed either side of the amp. This means i will need longer speaker cables, about 2x5m should do it.

I was going to go for some naca5 cable to suit my nait5i amp but then thought that since i am using a chord interconnect (chameleon silver+) in between my dac and amp, would i be better using matching chord speaker cable? Odyssey seems to be about the same price as the naim cable so i suppose that would be the one i would be looking at.

If anyone has experience of these cables with a similar setup, i would appreciate hearing your thoughts. Thanks

I would go for something like a traditional thick, multi-stranded, OFC copper cable that costs around £3 - £4 a meter.

Naim NACA4 is still available - in the guise of Linn K20 cable - for about £5 a metre. It will (obviously) be entirely compatible with Naim gear as it is identical to Naim's own original speaker cable. It is a classic 'dumbell' cross section, multi-stranded copper cable with core cross section of 4mm per conductor. (Plenty thick enough for 5m runs.)

That'll save you £10 a metre over the cost of NACA5 (and at the same time re-assure you that 'compatibility' with Naim will not be an issue.)

Linn still sell K20 cable so it can't be that bad

interesting... i thought you would urge me to go for the nac-a5 Chebby as you have it in your system. Do you think it is overpriced, or just overkill for my system? I was considering trying to find some second hand to save me a bit due to the length i need.

I did not really give the NACA5 much thought to be honest. At the time I just took the guidance from Naim and my dealer to use the 'prescribed' minimum of 3.5m per channel of NACA5. Naim synergy seemed to be working in all other respects so I thought... "why not?"

Now I don't think I would have bothered.

Yes, the NACA5 sounded better than the previous cable (the old style Chord Carnival Silver which - unlike newer 'SilverScreen' - was silver plated copper) but that was probably as much to do with it being thick stranded copper than because it was Naim.

NACA5 is an absolute cow to work into corners etc. (Need hairdryer to put a permanent bend in the stuff.)

I bought a 5 Mtr pair of NACA5 to go with my Uniti. As mentioned above it is a pig to work with, just so stiff and inflexible. To be honest I could tell no difference between the NACA5 and my old 4mm Van Damme OFC cable (£3.10 p/m), so ditched the NACA5 and went back to VD.
