Hi everyone..Im new to hi-fi world. Is my naim-b&w a good match system? Im currently using a b&w 703s and naim(122x-150x)pre-power.My cdp is arcam cd192 with chord anthem1 rca and chord odyssey4 speaker cable.I find it quite forward sounding or a bit harsh on the treble at times on some recordings. Is there anyone who can tell me the weakest link in my system? Thanks in advance to all..[*-)]

How is you room?

The more recent B&W speakers have metal tweeters. Might be an issue with some room treatments.

I've heard some folks in the industry say the naits are a good match for the B&W CM series, and other say it works well enough with 683. The naits are apparently a bit laid back compared to the older naims though..

Naim seems to go well enough with the metal be-tweetered Neat speakers, by all accounts, and there was a time that (even the older) Epos speakers were a popular choice with Naim amps despite having metal tweeters.

My MS20i Pearl Edition speakers are an excellent (albeit accidental) match with my system and yet have metal tweeters.

I have heard Focal speakers (yes, metal tweeters) that even sound dull in the treble with what are otherwise considered bright or 'forward' amps.

There have recently been recommendations for partnering Naim and the new KEF Q300s. (Guess what tweeter material?)

I wouldn't worry too much about what the tweeters are made of, but instead explore the problem with a good dealer who can let you audition a range of alternative speakers (particularly if home demos are ok with them).

I heard the naim xs with the KEF Q700's yesterday and they sounded beautiful (Guess what tweeter material?)

The room size is only about 5x6m. A guy from a hifi shop in London gave me some advice to replace my speaker cable from chord odyssey to a much cheaper copper cable to reduce harshness on the treble. I may give it a try but I was thinking when most cables reduce harshness, there is compromise on the detail, clarity and soundstage.

I changed my Chord Odyssey speaker cable for Naim's own (copper) cable (I have a Naim power amp), which removed the harsh treble.

I found the Odyssey cable very detailed and dynamic, but with my amp and Monitor Audio GS20 speakers the sound was a little too harsh and unpleasant.

Hi, I've replace my chord odyssey 4 to chord epic super twin which I bought from Bristol sound and vision last Feb. 25.There is a huge difference in sound, the bright treble is gone and the vocals sound more refined. There is also a noticeable bass extension without any compromise on the overall detail. Now I can turn the volume a bit more louder without the "in yer face" presentation. The only downside is that the chord epic super twin are so thick and very stiff compared to the odyssey. Thanks again for the advice mate.
