Hi

I was wondering if anyone could give me some feedback on the NAD c270 power amp.

I’m considering buying two of these and using them for 2 sets of B&W 601 s3's (in two different rooms). The reviews of this amp are pretty good I think and I have my eye on two which I can get for around $540, which I think is decent (in Denmark though, so may not compare to native prices). As you can tell, price is definitely also an issue.

However, I'm wondering what I might be missing out on in comparison to newer power amps (this ones from 01/02). Has there been any technological breakthrough since the production of these that will make me regret buying them? Or is there another setup that I should consider instead

I'm persoanlly a big fan of NAD amplification. The C270 power amps were from the same era as a C350 that I own. The reviews backin the day were very positive for the C270. As long as they are in good working order they should be a good buy, todays power amps are not going to give you anyhting the C270 can't.

Also having had a pair of B&W DM 601 S3 on the end a NAD C350 & NAD C326 BEE, I can tell you that the results are excellent.

Power amplifiers haven't come on leaps and bounds since these were produced and IMO they are excellent, very powerful power amplifiers. However, they are knocking on a bit now and they have a tendancy to dry some of the caps out due to them being located next to little heatsinks etc. Obviously it depends on how much they have been used as to what degree this will affect them. Might be an idea to have them serviced at some point just to make sure they are working perfectly.
