Andrew Everard:I'm making no comment on the subject beyond acknowledging your near-Pavlovian reaction every time this brand is mentioned.

Talking of pavlovian I do have a chocolate eclair for pudding tonight.

I'm also not anti MF. I thought the B1 was a great amp.

Sorry, don't get the connection,

I'm eclarian. Obviously.

JohnDuncan:joelsim:I'm also not anti MFI love Musical Fidelity. Do you wish to reconsider your statement?

No, just wasn't impressed with the cylindrical ones.

Andrew Everard:
scene:And anyway, I tried taking a picture of them in the
boot, but what with them and me in there, couldn't really get a good
angle...

Mind you, you would've thought with a boot as big as a Freelander 2's with the luggage cover removed, there might have been the odd corner into which these two could have been squeezed out of site. I know my FL2 can swallow quite a lot of equipment, even with the back seats up and the roller-blind in place. And no, I haven't been to Windsor recently.

Also terribly clever the way the mains cable seems to have rearranged itself while you were walking round to get the rear shot, cbb123.

Now it's straight...

Now it's wavy...

I think your wrong on this one. If you look at the pictures, the angle of the cable is the same, its just you can see more of it, on the second picture. Also on both the pictures you can see the glass reflection. I dont know if its all a marketing ploy, though.

Looking at the back panel, it clearly says "M1" and I think CUC. So its an entry line product. Based on the rest of the M1 series pricing, I would have though it would be priced between £400 - £600 maybe.

Its Def a streaming product, with digital inputs of all sorts, and pre out etc.

i think the above poster is spot on regarding the cable NOT being moved between photos.
however, i am very grateful that the photos were uploaded with enough resolution to allow us to zoom in and see all the connection types this model has...
i agree that it says M1 CUC on the rear panel, whatever that means...

I recently bought the new M1 DAC and it comes with a letter from MF boss Antony Michaelson. Here is the relevant portion from Mr Michaelson:

"Early next year MF is venturing further into digital/computer/internet electronics with the M1 Clic. The M1 clic is a music control cenre. It has 3 digital inputs, 3 analog inputs, a USB memory stick and a digital iPod input. The i-pod input accesses the digital data on your i-Pod. This technique releases the true sonic performance potential of the i-Pod.

The M1 Clic also has wireless/Ethernet connectivity and does Internet radio as well.

The aesthetics of the M1 Clic are beautiful. It has the same size package as your M1 DAC and has a simple, subtle and timeless appearance which really does it for me.

Last point! The M1 Clic has fixed and variable inputs so it can be used as a full preamp or a signal source. Everbody at Musial Fidelity is excited to be entering the full internet/digital age with this great new product''.

Hope this helps everyone.

Cheers.

Well, that's what it is sorted then, but the cable position is perhaps the least fishy aspect of this whole thread, which is in some danger of disappearing when we finally convince ourselves that allowing discussion to continue is actually just furthering some marketing subterfuge.

After all, we still haven't solved the mystery of the product being put on display along with a MacBook in the back of a car, arranged at an artful angle on folded-down rear seats for a passing person to photograph, rather than steal - nor indeed that person's desire to make a first post to show us all the pictures.

But for those thinking this is just an opportunist spot, we look forward to seeing future spy shots - next week, the new Quad electrostatics accidentally left at a Rochdale bus-stop for just long enough for someone to get a few snaps...

It does seem like a viral ad campaign, but at least the product is very interesting... My real question will be whether it has the same quality DAC as the M1DAC (EDIT: a news report from WHF Croatia says it does)... And also what the price will be... I am happy to see MF venturing hardcore into the streaming audio age... And that product appears to be exactly what I hoped Naim would release: a UnitiQute without the built in amplification...

Andrew Everard:
scene:Though I must say, I think he's also committed the schoolboy error of not choosing a freelancer with a tan or cream leather interior

I'm not sure you're allowed to submit freelancers to an internal examination as a condition of hiring...

IPad autocorrect can be hilarious...

Anyway, FWIW, yes it is the M1CLiC, and yes we have asked for a review sample, and no it's not due until next April, at around £1200-£1300...

It must be a big step on the DAC itself as well since the price is trippled than the M1. I am sure the wireless part alone will not cost 800 pounds.

WHF is really on top of this one... I look forward to the review....

That price is really disappointing though... around the same as the UnitiQute... Considering that the Qute has built in amplification, then the CLIC really needs to be something special to compete...

Ajani:WHF is really on top of this one... I look forward to the review....

Not really - just happened to have a phone call from AM, and so asked the questions.

So can you tell us what this little box from AM is going to deliver?

Spec as already speculated: streaming, internet radio, USBs for and aft, analogue and digital inputs, fixed and variable analogue outs, Wi-Fi and Ethernet. And he promises more computer audio products to follow...

Ah, that spoils all the fun Andrew! There you go dealing in hard facts again rather than wild speculation...

Oh, and it looks like it might also have a marshmallow toaster attachment. Due to have lunch with AM in a couple of weeks, so will confirm after that.

El Hefe:I am sure the wireless part alone will not cost 800 pounds.

The lettering CLiC must bump it up a bit.

Well I know surely it can't be a digital music streamer...after all Anthony said in an interview with an Australian Hi-fi magazine that MF has no intention in producing such a product. Surely he wouldn't lie...would he?

Probably Naim would have said the same thing two years ago: it's not a matter of lying, so please keep such scurrilous accusations to yourself - it's adapting to the market and consumer preferences, which sounds to me like fairly sound business practice.
