I have a pioneer laserdisc player and several titles but obviously Blu-ray have taken over at present and the forseable future. Do you think I could get anything for this classic player if I ended up selling it?
My old pioneer laserdisc....remember those?

i have a pioneer cld-925 player and about 400 ld titles mostly box set and criterion edition and dts version, i still love every bit of my laserdisc collection , and i will allways cherish it 🙂 i know it can,t even come close to ssd dvd,s new titles in term of picture quality , but i just love the way they look , it,s like they mean big bussiness and i love these big cover art 🙂

First one I ever saw being demonstrated was at an IBM employee families 'open day' when I was about 13.
I won't say exactly which year that was but horizontal cassette decks with wooden casings and 'piano key' style controls were still dominant. Our school had just started using the first gen Philips N1500 video machines (with analogue clock and wood effect trim) and the headmistress had a brand-new Capri Mk2 3.0L

Like me, your divulging your age, chebby. I used to have a cassette deck with piano key controls.
The only thing I remember about Laser discs were the size of them.

The only thing I remember about Laser discs were the size of them.
Remember them well. There used to be a shop just off the King's Road in London that specialised in laserdiscs - I spent far too much time/money in there. Some of my collection ended up in the hands of our very own Andy Kerr, as I recall.

I sold my Pioneer laserdisc player to a friend (as a backup for his own) about 8 years ago.
I shudder to think how much I spent on laserdiscs over the years, but comfort myself with the thought that I had them for about 6 years before DVD came out, and apart from the picture quality, it was the only way to get Dolby Digital 5.1 soundtracks (on US discs).
I sold the last of my LDs on eBay a few years ago - at the time of typing, there are 1,792 laserdiscs on ebay.co.uk!
I do miss the large sleeves, much like LPs vs CDs in that respect.
