Just got the LG 65e7v Oled TV and it’s making like clonky sounds! I don’t know if it’s just warming up and warming down and it’s the electricity making sounds but it’s very annoying and very frustrating! I have phoned John Lewis and someone’s coming out next week. Does anyone else know what’s wrong with it, have you heard strange sounds coming from your TV too?

The thing is I am scared it won’t do it much when the guy comes out, then I am left in a right delimna. I got it for £1700 right now it’s £3000, we they let me swap it for another, or we they say nothing is wrong with it and then I am screwed!

Have the TV off all day and turn it on when the guy comes over. As it warms up it should do the plastic popping noise again. Maybe some fans and relays also do some clicky noises.

You can record it on your phone as well.

Nothing worse than an intermittent fault, but like Vlad says, these days we have the wherewithal to catch it in the act on video as evidence. Good luck.

My brother has just returned two Sony LCDs with very strange faults. There was a screen-burn type effect where the BBC news channel logo from an HDMI input was faintly showing whilst viewing from its tuner- even after the HDMI input was removed and the TV turned off and on again later.

Also there was a strange audible tone due to incompatibilty with a Humax box (that has not been an issue on any previous TV)

Richer Sounds confirmed the faults and refunded. He bought a different model Sony TV from John Lewis (as Richer didn't stock it)- different model, obviously common parts as exactly the same problem. Back to John Lewis, swapped for a Panasonic. No problems with that.

Don't think you're alone gel. With new models more frequent and competition fierce, you have to wonder whether corners may be being cut, hopefully not in QC departments.

I know of two people who've had the lines down the screen problems with LG sets, but then every brand has someone with a horror story.

I've never strayed from buying exclusively Sony and Panasonic myself. Although, don't LG supply the panels for other brands these days?

Hope your problem gets sorted to your satisfaction.

I think I have another problem too - interference! When watching the picture I got strange lines down the bottom of the screen, so I decided to Sky HD record it, but when I watched it again it wasn’t there. I have never had this problem on any of my TVs before and don’t quite understand where it’s coming from. Any ideas? Cheers.

Cheers! Yep, LG supply Oled panels to a range of manufacturers. Still haven’t managed to capture it on video yet.

One thing about the stand it sits on is well flimsy, the TV literally wobbles if you touch it!

That's a result! So you got the cashback from LG then?

Not yet, but I have spoken to LG and everything looks like it should be fine.

The guy just came and he heard the noises and has written his report and gave us a photocopy. Just a case of getting it exchange for another one now. He also said it was warming up to fast and getting hot rather quickly. Cheers for your help guys! Sorted.
