Hi all,

After almost two years of refurbishing my new flat and leaving laterally on the building site, at last I can enjoy my brand new set-up. I was really really looking forward to finally finish the whole DIY thing and start buying my new kit. After hours and hours on the forum and with What Hi-Fi in my hands I finally decided what to buy and how to set-up “the room of my dreams” (believe me, after two years in dirt and dust it is like dream come true). So this is how it looked when I bought it (image one) and then how it was taking shape. From the pictures you can’t really realize what was happening in between. If you would like to see 2 years of the DIY stuff I might include link to my DIY Blog one day. Anyway, have a look and please tell me what you think.

Very nice!

May I suggest to add a finishing touch to your cables; go to B&Q and buy some D-line cable runs.

This will make the cable mess a thing of the past!

They are not the most recent pictures. All cables are now black so not much visible. You can only see small bits of it going from the front speaker to behinde of the Hi-Fi stand. But now they are black so looks good on the dark floor. D-line cable runs is something I don't like the look of at all, that's why I spend so much time to prepare everthing so I won't have to use it (rear cables under the floor and all front cables in the wall).

Looks terrific all your hard work certainly paid dividends. Mind if I ask about the AV rack only my own Onkyo AVR is a whopper and runs hot needs a pretty spacious rack. Your SC-LX82 which I beleive is 20cm high seems to have plenty of air around it which is just what I'm looking for.

Looks really great, just one point, are not the rears to near to the listening position, for the rest the setup is Showrrom Stuff

Just seen it, look's brilliant, how does it all sound and look?

Thanks

Hi 2oldnslow,

I had the exact same problem with my previous rack (picture no.3) which I'd bought just couple of months before. Had to sell is and but new one which will support such a big Receiver. The good thing about that one is that you have variable height if the middle shelf (you can put it while assembling it on required height), and that's why I got it. It was perfect choice - a lot of space for everything but as the same time nice and neat. But believer me - hours and hours of looking on the net. Once you find the correct size, wife will tell you that's it ugly and no way it will be in our living room. Then she will find another really nice one visually but of course not big enough for the Pioneer monster. And over and over again the same story. But finally we found that one and it was perfect choice. We are really happy with it.

The most important for you ;-) The model is: ALPHASON FINEWOODS FW1350-BV/B BLACK OAK TV STAND. There is also short version of it but mine is the long one 1350mm.
Hope it helps.

What can I say.... That's is how it works with our room layout. Everything was set-up properly with the receiver (channel levels, distances, etc.) and it sound AMAZING! I just love everything in that room. I am a happy man now. FINALLY!

Hey thanks stone, thats sounds just perfect for me as I'd only be looking for the top shelf to house my BD player, Sonos ZP90 and possibly a DAC with a the receiver and maybe a stereo amp on the lower tier so like you the longer version would be the one for me.

I think my replay above says everything ;-) In short..... I LOVE the look and I LOVE the sound ;-) not sure what's more though ;-)

How much space is that giving around the receiver? The manual talks about leaving at least 20cms above and to the sides, it's not easy to tell how much space it's got from the picture though, I can't believe that's a KRP-500a, it looks tiny, so perhaps it's just an effect of the camera...

;-) I know what you mean. Before I bought it my wife was telling me that "no, 50'' is too big" I want something smaller... Now she complains that it's too small and that 60'' would be nicer ;-)

Just remember that the stand is 1350mm wide! That's 1.35m and TV on the picture is almost the same width.

With space around the receiver it's not 20cm around....It's not getting hot on the sides at all... I have quite a big space above but again it's not really getting that hot. I am not listening to it on 90 or 100% of it's power. On moderate levels I don't think that's an issue.

Cracking setup! If you dont mind me asking where did you get the coffee table?

Nicely spotted ;-) Coffee table is half of the success in the proper Home Cinema set-up ;-) Just joking ;-)

You can get them from dfs but my motto is (if you saw something nice in the high street - spend some time and look for it on-line - you can save a fortune) so to get it cheaper check out quatropi (just add .com ;-)) they have a lot of great, really nice design stuff.

Hope it helps.

Oi ! Give me my rug back ! 😉

Beautiful looking and well executed setup there Stone, and what a transformation ! I too love the coffee table, and agree that Quatropi is a great place to look, as I've bought from them before. It's a shame that they have discontinued so many of their Av units though ? :/

Top marks to ya .

Very, very nice room!! As nice as the coffe table is, I'm loving the natuzzi sofa (as I have same one

) Anyway, back to the table, any thoughts to a nice universal remote to tidy it up?? I would highly recommend the Logitech Harmoney 1100, for one of those finishing touches. Top job fella

Excellent job my friend. Looks really neat & very impressive. And i just know it will look and sound brilliant.

After all that research and all that work, you can just sit back now & enjoy the fruits of your labour.

Well Done
