Here are a few pictures of the first serious hifi that i bought (admitedly all second hand). The hifi i had before was a technics se a800s pre/power amp combo. Anyhoo its a Cyrus 6 cd, Cyrus 3i amp, Acoustic energy Aelite 2 sitting on Soundstyle stand which curve to compliment the curvature of the speakers. The amp is on a Spectral stand, purchased for 25 pound at my local sevenoaks which was closing down. I didnt like the silver legs so i wrapped them in black vinyl (looks better to me). Next on the cards is a psx-r or a power amp to bi amp. Before anyone mentions, i do admit it is in a hallway, so bad speaker positioning due to living in a flat at the moment, but the overall quality is far greater than my previous systems, and it spreads the sound into the living room and bedroom well.

Is that a speaker stand you have your kit on? It sure is tall.....

yep it is tall, about 1m i think, but its really sturdy. Im not sure what its meant for, its a Spectral rack that sevenoaks had a surround sound amp showcased on. i got it for a mere 25 pound, when i think the original price was 250 pound, due to the shop closure. I was thinking of saving for a custom made cyrus rack or even a hark. but at the moment itl do.

Are you intending that the radiator will warm your kit up for you????????

nope, the radiator is always off as not to cause any possible melting of the cables running behind it.

I recently bought an Arbour rack for my Cyrus kit. While it looks lovely and improved the sound, it is not, in my opinion, a particularly well thought-out rack. It is a pig to fit interconnects and cabling onto each piece of equipment, and the top shelf has no access for cable management so, if you want to use a specialist mains cable the unit (in my case a PSX-R) does not lie flush. At first I tried a Discmaster 8.0, but it simply wouldn't fit with HDMI cable plugged in. Pity no one at Cyrus actually tried using their kit on a rack advertised in their own brochure! If they had they'd have added an inch or so in depth. Save for the hark!

well i did not intend on getting the cyrus made one, and thanks for letting me know the issues you have had with yours. this site( http://www.hifiracks.co.uk/page10.htm ) custom makes them to the buyers specification, or you can buy a standard measurement one. they look really well made and you can get a small range of wood finishes. so it, for me would be one of these in the future i think, although it will take some getting used to, bending down to use the kit lol.

thanks again for the insight

I'm sure this must have been covered, but you seem to have your hi-fi placed on a speaker stand?

yes, it has been covered. im not sure what the stand for. Sevenoaks were using it to showcase an AV amp. My guess it its a centre channel stand. but....does that really matter??? Speaker stands are stiff and supporting to speakers, so should be ok for the cyrus...am i right or totally wrong. It was bought because 1. it was a bargain being about 10percent of the rrp and 2. i was previously using an ikea coffee table for the hifi it has since replaced. Does anyone know of any cyrus friendly racks appart from the hark or the triarbour that are worth a punt.

Not really, quite original infact, only that a speaker if dropped from that height would probably get away with a dented cabinet - your Cyrus wouldn't do as well I imagine. Is it attached with anything?

No its not attatched to anything. Ive never come close to knocking it over, and the base is quite large so would take a fair knock to push it over on its side and i dont need to get down the side of it. i may tho, now youve mentioned it, drill a hole in the top plate and add a thin security wire to it, tied on to the radiator. Luckily i dont have children or pets to run into it.

There should be an "insert/edit image" button that looks like a tree on the toolbar where you reply to posts, when you click on it you get a pop up box appear..... you can then cut and paste your links into that box

Use Flicker for uploaded photos , all you do is make an account and then find the pictures on your pc and upload them , once you done that you can click all sizes on them and it gives you a choice to view them in small , medium or large , I use Medium for this forum as the large is to big , then you copy and paste the upload photo URL at the bottom of the photo , it will look like this , but before you copy that to the forum at the start and end you need to add :

Start of link add = [ img ] & at the end of link add = [ /img ]

Add that to the link below and thats how you upload photos for people to view on whathifi, Hope this helps.
