my bose lifestyle 20

hello,thats my first post in that forum!!!

ive got a bose lifestyle 20 in my home(1998),this system is very good,i love this system,some people said:"bose is the mc donalds of the sound" or "it´s all about marketing", but i don´t understand,i have listen many bose systems and i like the sound!!! for me bose is one of the best manufactures of audio products!!!

anyone has listen this bose lifestyle 20 system?

No, but have heard the 3-2-1 system, and the Lifestyle 38 and 48, and really liked them.

Just seems to be fashionable to not like Bose at the moment. The only Bose speakers I've heard are on my mate's AE surround setup and, for tiny little things, they give out a great sound.

Bose is hit or miss. I used to sell it and although its great kit, I always thought it was thrice the price it should have been. he 3-2-1 struck me as a system that would be great for around $700. I feel they've gotten a following where they can charge a truly unfair premium for the brand name. When one considers the price of Mirage surround speakers and a good Yamaha or Onkyo surround reciever versus a Bose kit, the choice is plain.

Over the years (actually more than I care to admit) I have listened to a lot of different equipment. Bose has certainly been around during that time period. I always felt that Bose gave a strong first impression, but revealed it's weakness over time. Personally I feel that Bose has a strong midrange - one that seems to add a lot of presence - and it is midrange that we as humans hear the best. I do find, however, that once the honeymoon period is over with Bose, the weaknesses come out... muddy base and mushy highs.

Just my opinion.

They may not be the best products around but their marketing ideas and how they have developed the brand name are pretty good. This allows them to charge a premium. If we're honest getting an extra 10% out of the sound doesn't matter to most people who are looking for a tiny little speaker system. I know my missus would much rather have a Bose than my ProAc Tablettes in the kitchen, but fortunately she gets her way on everything else so she doesn't have a leg to stand on.
