Arh, but when you next upgrade and take advantage of the deals you'll be snapping up a better bit of kit...:)

matengawhat:there is a brand new xt100 for sale on ebay - might be worth watching!!!
oooh, wasn't there earlier...will have to have a look. There's a DAB tuner to go with the kit too at 400 notes I think. Cheers!

EDIT make that 200 notes for the Explorer tuner

EvilWolf:
Yes, the MF certainly has a much richer sound than the Arcam, which I feel is too laid back and warm. The detail resolution (which is important to me!) is also, in my opinion, crisper.

I have to say a good mate of mine has an XRay, DAC and power amp running through some Tannoy floorstanders (not sure which model but a few years old now). Whilst they are good, compared to mine they sound like you're listening through a pillow case.

Good grief, it must be his amp or an older version. This thing is crystal clear, more so than the Kandy III! In fact, if anything, it has a tad of treble lift over a neutral player.

Don't get me wrong, it's a decent, involving sound, but I don't think his speakers are in the same league as my Dalis for guitar and voice. I'm used to an incredibly crisp sound with absolutely no background noise whatsoever, his just sounds a little fuzzy in comparison. Mine isn't bright or fatiguing though in any way, just seems to work well together.

That doesn't surprise me actually. Dalis are very good speakers. The only reason I didn't hunt any down to try was the concern over there amount of treble given my room acoustics. Everything seems to be bright in my lounge, the Rega R5s were unlistenable!

matengawhat:i orderd an mf a5 cr pre amp and two arcam p35s last week as fancied a change - so looking forward to getting them on tuesday just need to sell my kandy L111 amp and power amp now
Excellent choices. I think you'll find a huge gain but I've never heard such a mix. Let us know how you get on. Exciting stuff.

Nah, but I was watching in case a deal was to be had. Having just spent £500 on the CDP another £600 odd wacks the overall price up a lot even though it's probably very good indeed. I need to change my amp first I think, plus prepare for the years of poverty that a possible house renovation project will bring...

...still, if you want to sell yours...

yeah i was surprised by what it went for - the mf pre and arcam powers amps are settling in nicely and sound absolutely amazing - sweet treble, great timing and very deep bass - couldn't be more happy - my whole system in singing now - everything just seems so much more rounded and focussed great buy especially since got the whole lot for less than halfprice - wouldn't mind hearing your spendors with it although guess would give very different sound to rs8s i'm runing!

That's a bloody nice set up you have there, nice one! I'd be happy to have a mini session to try the Spendors depending on our locations. If you're interested email the site and ask to swap our email addresses. Have a good one.
