Fantastic story here about how different sorts of music can affect how your wine tastes. Allegedly (nothing to do with great PR story for the vineyard, obviously).

Anyone else had a similar experience?

It's very interesting... but that's the power of the mind for you... I think the lesson here is not to drink Shiraz whilst testing power cables...😉

You'd be able to get a cracking bottle of wine if you sold
your stereo,

Aldi for the moment then.

I just love this quote:"Previously, Professor North conducted supermarket research which suggested people were five times more likely to buy French wine than German wine if accordion music was played in the background.

If an oompah (!) band was played, the German product outsold the French by two to one." Note to self- if you notice any oompah band playing anywhere near a supermarket, be careful. You might end up with something you really don't like.Oh well, maybe some Mozart will soften the pain.

...and there was me thinking it was the wine making the music better

If you notice an oompah band playing near the supermarket then you've had more than just wine, or you've really taken a wrong turn on the way back from the boozer.

I have to say that music sounds much better after wine than it does after beer.

Pinot noir (got to be from Burgundy I afraid) with "Panic" by Cold play could be good.

Pinotage from Cape town have quite a powerful feeling that could be taken further by Queen's this little thing called love.

Sancerre? May be Rosini in Bel canto style.

and Nino Rota's Sicilian Pastorale should improve your finest bottle of vintage Barolo.

No music would make me buy German wine instead of French!! The Amy Winehouse knocker, I know she is an idiot but you cannot knock her music. Back to Black with a nice Chateau Margaux Grand Cru - niiiiice. Bille Carte Salmon champagne and Hey Jude blaring!!

I'm happy to knock her music and her idiocy I'm afraid. In fact, I'm easier on the idiocy. So I'll respectfully beg to differ. Here's to your next Wine-house session - enjoy!

[/quote]Hey, you better take that back mister- it's not me claiming there are oompah bands playing in supermarkets, it's professor North! God only knows from which cave he operates.

LOL, may be we have the right product mix here!

Maybe this way only works with slow music.

No, that upgrades your gin.

Red for dinner parties and listening to relaxing music on the headphones.

White for everything else!

I'm in a tom waits mood, and my australian Cabernet Sauvignon is going very nicely with it.

I think we're talking bottles rather than glasses until we get to that whole 'solid air' moment.

Which, of course, requires quantification of volume

Evening Ms N - I have to report that I nicked my sig from the Playn Jayn, which may be a little way from the divine Miss P.

Now THAT'S random...

Mad what the mind makes you do. I remember watching a programme where they asked six people to give someone an interview for a job. Three of the people were asked to hold a cold glass of Coke before the interview and the other three were asked to hold a hot coffee before the interview. The interview was held with the same actor in each one, each interviewer asked the same questions from a provided script and the actor gave the same answers. Each of the "Coke" interviewers rejected him as an applicant and each of the "Coffee" interviewers accepted him as an applicant. It was done as research to show how temperature affects the mind and decisions we make...

You see that and then wonder why people think being able to hear the difference between a 320kbs MP3 file and a CD is impossible! And don't even get me started on Derren Brown!
