MP4 Recovery and Codec

Hi Everyone,

I recently found some old memory cards and managed to recover some sizeable videos from them, they are MP4s, the only problem is that I cannot get them to play on any software.

When I try and play them on Windows Media Player it says it cannot be played as it does not support the codec, yet when I play another MP4 that I have just recorded for example it has now playback issues.

Any help with my query would be greatly appreciated thank you.

What's the codec? Why not try Handbrake(free)?

have you tried VLC media player? That doesn't need external codecs and can pretty much play anything thrown at it.
