Moon Equinox CD player

Looks like I've bought myself a Moon Equinox CD player, from another hifi forum.

I just wanted to know if anyone has any experience of the Equinox, and any thoughts on the purchase.

Hopefully, this will be my last upgrade, for a while anyway.

I had one on loan for a few weeks many "moons" ago. Please pardon the pun. Funnily enough I had the Rega Apollo (which I see you have) on my rack at the same time. No outboard DAC at that time so I was listening to them both "naked" so to speak. I remember thinking at the time that I wished I could have afforded to keep the Moon. Looked great and sounded great from memory although I can't recall specifics. I loved the Apollo so to have wanted the Moon must have made it fairly special but of the same acoustic family as the Apollo if that makes sense. Pretty shonky remote control I seem to remember. Enjoy!

I collected the Moon Equinox CD player yesterday afternoon and put it straight to work, once it had warmed up it was very impressive indeed.

Think ive picked up an absolute bargain here. Looks fantastic too.

Sounds good :)

i use a blue ray player as a transport these days but would like a dedicated CD player again.

I opted for a CD player with digital inputs in to its onboard DAC (for my network player). Best of both worlds in a single box!

Bigfish your journey has intrigued me! Not least as I started out back in Hifi after many years with the Pulse. Do you mind me asking the CD player was £3.5k new?

Of the moon CD player, I bought it from a guy who had a lot of gear. I didn't ask why he'd decided to sell, but he had it in a second system, and barely used it.

I only paid £400 for it. Which is quite honestly an absolute bargain.

it is very similar toneally to my turntable, you'd be hard pressed to tell them apart at the same volume

Can't really, it's only that I had a Leema and took a journey like you, if it's pricked your interest check out the "Pavlo" Abrahsmsen thread it all started from Electro mentioning them. Good news on the Moon seems you hit upon a bargin.

I've not heard anything about abrahamsen, can you tell me more?

Here is a link to the Abrahamsen sites .

http://www.store.abrahamsenaudio.no/

And the Abrahamsen thread mentioned .

http://www.whathifi.com/forum/hi-fi/abrahamsen-audio-amp-v20

There is an amp for sale on ebay at the moment that will give you an idea of the UK price .

Abrahamsen Audio is a small Norwegian company run by the Per Abrahamsen family and others .

Per Abrahamsen was one of the founders of Electrocompaniet in the 70's but started Abrahamsen audio after Electrocompaniet was taken over by Westcontrol around 2004 .

Hope this helps *smile*
