Hello, I was reading the review of the RX1 in this website. The first paragraph the review mentions that the RX1 avoided a group test up until now.

Were the RX1's in a group test that I have missed? What other speakers were in the group test and what was the result? cheers

Let's just say you wouldn't go wrong with either the 685s, Q300s or RX1s, for now 🙂

Edit: Let's just also say if you have a nicely powered amp, like 50w+, and value for money's a priority then the 685s might just take the prize 🙂

The winner is the one I have listed first.

The B&W and MA are both different and have their own strong points.

Don't think I am breaking any house rules here am I?

Don't know if you have, but I'll sleep a bit better tonight.

BTW, the test outcome was not as straightforward as you might think - my country's local edition of WHF actually gave the prize to the 685s - because of the price differential between them and the Q300s - they thought the latter did not warrant the extra expense.

Also note all 3 speakers sustained their 5 * ratings in the test.

Yes, that usually cause more confusion when you are from another country.

As the speakers cost differently in different countries, so does the VFM factor.

I was, of course, indication the result from the UK edition of the mag.

With Kef's anniversary promotion that must make the Kef Q300 a bargain just now at £360.00.

I have auditioned the RX1 against the BX5 and prefered the RX1's. I am now going to audition the RX1 v Kef Q300.

The system I plan to buy is a Marantz NA7004 & PM6003 for about £800.

Yeah it gets good reviews. What Hi Fi gave the Marantz NA7004 five stars and Hi Fi Choice gave it four & half stars.
