Hi everyone have a problem here with my Ma Bx6 iam running them with a yamaha 1067 and i find that the sound getting harsh and hurting my ears most listen to music thru my computer via a xonar essens soundcard and goes optical to the yamaha. I dont now if my room is very reflective or if its the speakers or the amp?

/thanks

Quite possible the room interactions with the speakers. Can you try auditioning other speakers in the room?

How long have you had the speakers for? My BR5 was a shop floor model so I never had to bed mine in, but I hear the tweeters can be pretty harsh before bed in. You might try toe ing them out slightly?

It may be worth reviewing your room. You say your not sure how reflective it is. As a rule carpet, soft furnishing, wall hangings etc will help dampen any excitable speakers.
Perhaps if you can take a photo of the room and post to this thread. I've found people on this forum very helpful and I'm sure you'll get some helpful tips and suggestions.
My Yamaha, MA combo not harsh at all
How new are speakers ?

Hi thanks for all replys was in my town today and asked they said that i should check if the screws on the back not were loose i also tested ma bx5 with a marantz amp and the sound was amazing in the shop. Well when i went home i checked the screws and they where a little loose so fixed that and now the painfull harshness is gone i can tell that i feeled a little stuipid🙂

thanks everyone anyway

You shouldn't feel stupid. It's not really the sort of thing you'd expect to have to do with new speakers really, although it is worth tightening (but being careful not to overtighten) screws and allen bolts once a year just to make sure they haven't worked loose - this can have a big effect on the overall sound.

My brother got some BX5's today. I was just looking through his manual and there is a loose sheet with it explaining that the 5mm screws on the back will need adjustment after running in. Maybe the BX6's are the same. Always worth reading the manual first.

Hi, friend. I have had the same problem with my BX6 speakers. It have desapeared whem I took off the antivibration cones from the bottom of my cd player. Now the sound is excellent!
