Are these so much worse than the BX2 ? After all the praise the BX2 got (which I fully understand) nobody talks about these..........?

Are there people here who have these ? 🙂

anybody ?

Because of the size of the BX1's, they do feel a little restricted in the bass, and can sound a little boxy sometimes. The BX2's have a larger cabinet volume and larger bass driver, and seem to sound more open and effortless, sounding more "free" if its box, if that makes sense.

Hasn't David just answered that for you! :read:

Uh No. He said they are a litte restricted in the bass department.............so I wonder if there is enough of it.

How is he supposed to answer that? Whether or not a speaker has enough bass is very subjective - some people would say that small speakers like Dali Lektor 1, Monitor Audio BX1 etc. have enough bass, while others would say that only speakers like Dali Lektor 8, B&W 800 Diamonds etc have enough bass.

Some people would also argue that it depends on what music you listen to, but I have found that most music really benefits from some bass. I have some Dali Lektor 1's and a B&W ASW610 subwoofer and I have been doing some listening with and without, and found that the music I listen to (mostly acoustic female vocals and classical) became more involving with the subwoofer on.

Thanks Frank.

How's the bass of the BX1 ? Is there enough of it ?

Entirely subjective, I'm afraid.

From Monitor Audio's website, the +/- 3dB range of the:

BX1's is 55Hz to 30kHz

BX2's is 42Hz to 30kHz

Hi Cypher

All things being equal as good as BX1's are however in my experience BX2's LF offers even greater weight, scale and depth.

Btw, BX2's are clearer and punchier in the critical mid range and when push comes to shove BX2's also maintain better composure at high playback levels.

Imo, the £50 premium for BX2's is really a no brainer.

All the best

I was in the same predicament as yourself, I purchased the BX2's on reviews here and elsewhere, which sound great but unfortunately found them to be too BIG a sound for normal living room listening just obtrusive & they also had my neighbour complaining.

So I just shelved them and bought BX1's (had them as rears also) for normal 2 channel stereo - they sound great not as huge on the bass but I wouldnt say lacking very adequate!! & alot smaller in size to mount, Im very happy I made the decision to downgrade (although have pair of BX2's sitting in cupboard doing nothing a month old). Go for it and still £179 at Richer sounds and other places.
