Monitor Audio Bronze BX2 with Cambridge Audio

Will the Monitor Audio Bronze BX2 work with Cambridge Audio azur 540 amp. I have heard they are pretty fussy with some gear, anyone had any experience?

Do you have the Cambridge amp? if you do go and listen to a few different makes of speaker within your budget. As I mentioned earlier system matching isn't an exact science. We can only advise. We could all post various makes of speakers/amps/CDPs until we're blue in the face...

By listening to different speakers can the retailer make suggestions.

My old setup was a pair of BR2's with a 540A. The sensitivity for both is 90dB while the nominal impedance has gone from 6 Ohms for the BR2's to 8 Ohms for the BX2's so the 540A should have no problem driving the BX2's.

My only concern would be that the BX2s are thinner sounding than the old BR2s, particularly in the midrange. The BRs had a dose of midrange warmth that would counteract the slightly clinical Cambridge Audio sound, whereas the BX2s don't.

Auditioning will be the only way of being sure. Don't forget there are other talented speakers around in that price bracket. Of these I would suggest the Wharfedale Diamond 10.1s which I think would flatter the (excellent) 540A amp more.
