I currently have a pair of Monitor Audio B2 speakers cobbled together with Tannoy Mercury rears and centre (sorry to mix and match - I have brought shame upon myself!!) and would like to upgrade to a Monitor Audio 5.1 system, unfortunately the B2s have been discontinued and replaced with BR2s. If I got BR2 centre and surrounds would they gel ok with the B2 fronts or do I need to buy everything new??? thanks for any help

Hi mate,

What might be a better idea is to get the BR2 fronts and the BRLCR MA Centre and then use the B2S as the surround speakers.

Then search down a different sub as the sub in the BR2 system isn't the best, as in you can get better for the same value.

The BR2s on a decent stands with the matching centre are really nice sounding.

cheers - that sounds like a cunning plan as I didn't really want to have to replace the B2s as they do a great job on stereo

Regarding the sub - any suggestions after poo-pooing the MA !? The Velodyne MicroVee looks quite funky and would be easy to fit in but not sure if anyone has reviewed it.

Seems to get a good review. The space saving idea sort of appeals just not sure how it will compete with bigger woofers

I have had the MJ Acoustics Pro MKII or MJ Acoustics Reference 100 recommended to me which I will check out once I get me new amp.

Standwise I got the Soundsyyle Z2 as they are now available in black, and they do a good job and look the part with MA BR2 as well, plus they don't cost much so are very good value for money.

I'll have to go and do some listening I think!

Thanks for giving me some food for thought - hopefully I'll have a brand spanking new system up and running soonish as I'm upgrading the whole lot :) . This forum has been very useful to untangle my boggling mind!
