Hi,

Thinking of adding AV to my current rotel/KEF iQ5 system. Question is, space is an issue and I am thinking of using the KEF HTS3005 centre and surround. Would this intergrate well with the iQ5's or is it better to make space for full size iQ speakers?

Cheers

Before buying, I'd see if you can get a dealer to put this package together for you to listen to - only way you can be sure. Personally, I would try and make room for the centre as it's a pretty critical speaker. I "compromised" on my rears as well with the B&W M1s as, after listening to the 686s in the position they would have had to be in at home to fit them in, and then the M1s in a normal surround position, the M1s edged it.

I agree with the prof. The centre should match your front speakers. It is the most important one for cinema. Rear speakers are less important in my opinion. I have the tiny bookshelf speakers from MA (R90s) as my rears and the RS6av front three.

I agree with you both but the iq2c is too tall to sit beneath my TV, do either of you think the the 3005 centre is a resonable compromise or will I really suffer integration issues?

I couldn't tell you without hearing it I'm afraid... You could look at putting the larger centre on a bracket above the TV. I'm looking to do this with this though apparently it's not arriving until next Wednesday so can't comment on how good it is yet!.

How much room do you have? I've just looked at the spec of the two and it seems that the larger one is only 3cm taller. I think that if it can't be helped, the sound would be ok with the 3005 but you would be missing out somewhat - for just 3cm - could you not raise your screen a smidge.
