Bought me a Mission MX1. Pairing it with my 3 year old Sony Karaoke receiver it sounded small and no improvement than my Sony speakers which cost quarter of mission's price. I am now panic! Need careful choosing amp. '' Avoid bright sounding electronics '' WHF said. I googled and found these : http://www.audioaffair.co.uk/Yamaha-A-S500-+-CD-S300-+-Mission-MX1/product_4805 http://www.amazon.co.uk/Marantz-CD6004-PM6004-Mission-Speakers/dp/B00AO3PVIY Other options I found on stores with my budget i don't want second hand. Yamaha As300, Marantz PM5004, Rotel RA-971, Nad C316BEE I can't audition them cause they don't have mission speakers to test and they sell at different stores. They said any amp will do fine job ( yeah, right ! ) I listen to Pop and Ipod as source. This will be my first budget setup.

Yes your problem is I suspect is the receiver. Most amps should be OK but avoid bright sounding which I think is amps like Rotel and CA. If you want more bass then NAD would be my choice, Marantz is a good smooth sounding amp. If you can't demo then buy from a store that you can exchenge for no cost.

Have you got them on proper stands?

Marantz PM6004

NAD C326BEE

Both amps will be great with the MX1 I think. The C316BEE is also nice but if you can afford it go for the C326BEE.

I found the MX1s sounded best on the end of the Yamaha A-S500. In fact the MX1s were the only speakers that really convinced me with that amp. Somehow it is a combination that works very well.
