Hello, I'm waiting for a pair of Mission 751 speakers to come. I've always read very good things about the 751 speakers, some people say they were very underpriced for the good things they do. I've also read that the Mission 751 can be a bit bright sounding. Also, were/is there any particular amplifiers that has good synergy with the 751s? Anyone here still using the 751 speakers? Kind Regards. P.S, My 751s are the early models, with the bass ports on the front.

Yes, the 751s were/still are amazing speakers. I've tried a pair which I borrowed from a friend, and I was very impressed.
They can have a bit of a bright edge to them (as any Mission speaker with the metal dome tweeters did), but good system matching can convert this into pure detail.
Amplifiers by Rotel or NAD match extremely well with the 'Mission sound', if you can find a Rotel RA971mk2 or a NAD C350 or 370 for good money, then you will be stunned with the results.

Brilliant little £300 (at 1993 prices) which delivered great sound, finesse and detail for a good price as well as being a part of the fine 75 series range, one of Mission's best.
I used mine with - at the time - an Arcam Alpha 5 and a Marantz CD52 MkII CD player. It was a superb mix. All this talk of Arcam's 5 as being a bit safe and warm withered in this partnership. A great balance between the three.
Not sure how the 751 will sound with Rotel, try it out, but bear in mind the source has a part to play in all of this. Otherwise, for the price you pay, which is around £100 or thereabouts for a pair now on the secondhand market now, a pair in good condition or better will comfortably outperform anything up to EB Acoustics EB1 territory (and possibly then some). IMO naturally.

What are the best stands to use with these speakers? Would something like the Atacama SE24 be ideal?? I think stands are 24inches (Hence SE24)

maybe some lower stands if your going to listen when in bed, i think the guide is to try to get the tweeter to head level in the listening position

I wouldn't lose too much sleep over the stands or go mad with cost. I used some Apollos back then and they were fine. They're often overlooked against the Atacamas and Partingtons of this world, but they're well made, UK based and well priced. I've now been using the Mission 751s for 3 days now, but I still need to get used to these speakers. At least I can say they have nice vocals and midrange, plus they are also bright sounding speakers. Certainly not a warm laid back speaker!
Amplification is a NET Audio upgraded Quad 405-2, Preamp is a Tag Mclaren PA10.
CD player is a Rotel RCD-1070.
P.S, Why do some people say the 751's are monitors? Do they have a flat response?, or are they just plain revealing??

Not sure mate, but they are detailed and revealing. You could try toeing the speakers out a little which I sometimes do with the 752s. A matter of taste though.

I do agree that these speakers have a good balanced sound, or in other words they sound ''right''
Apart from Rotel amps, did the 751s also mate well with Cyrus amps?

The 751s can sound a bit "hot", which is backed up by my frequency response measurements, which show a 5dB rise from 3kHz to 10kHz. My 751s were apparently also shipped with the tweeters connected in reverse (sharp narrow notch in the frequency response at around 3.2kHz), which was easily remedied. They are great speakers, but alas, I need to find replacement tweeter domes to make my pair great again....
